Man shall not live by bread alone…

Deuteronomy 8:3
So He humbled you, allowed you to hunger, and fed you with manna which you did not know nor did your fathers know, that He might make you know that man shall not live by bread alone; but man lives by every word that proceeds from the mouth of the Lord.

Matthew 4:4
But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.’ ”

Jesus came to reiterate what God had said before.

We learn of this principle of “man shall not live by bread alone.” The devil tempted Jesus to convert stones to bread so that Jesus reminded the devil what the Word says.

The devil knew that Jesus was physically weary, hungry.

Jesus was fasting, to bring down the body so that he feeds His inner man.

Bread “food” or the World and that’s in it, makes us forget feed the inner man.

I John 2:15
Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

We need to forget about the body/world so that we nourish the inner man abd make him flourish and we shall see the manifestation through the body, otherwise when we continually feed the body/ contemplate on the world more, the inner man will become malnourished and eventually dies.

[2]But his delight is in the law of the Lord, And in His law he meditates day and night.
[3]He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper.

Oh Lord my father, I thank you for Your word I have learnt today and I pray that you grant me the grace of living by Your Word, grace of reading your Scriptires, meditating on them and pursuing to live according to Your Word.
